ISDN30 Line Rental

With Heart Telecom line rental you can save 15% compared to BT for ISDN30 line rental and consolidate your calls and line rental service in one bill. You will keep your existing phone number and do not need to make any changes to your telecom equipment.

An ISDN30 line allows for the simultaneous connection of between 8 and 30 calls. One channel is required for each simultaneous call and there are a minimum of 8 channels required per ISDN30 line. If you require less than 8 continuous voice calls then you will need ISDN2. If you require more than 30 channels then you can simply order additional ISDN30 lines.

There are 2 types of ISDN30;

ISDN30e – uses worldwide ITU-T standard signalling Q.391 ETSI version.

ISDN30 Dass2 – uses the BT signalling system.

The vast majority of customers and equipment make use of ISDN30e. If you are unsure, please check with your equipment vendor.

At Heart Telecom, we buy line services on a wholesale basis from BT Openreach and have the same level of access to systems and support from BT Openreach as BT Retail. Site Assurance
Site Assurance option 1 enables End Users to have ISDN30 exchange calls re-routed to an alternative site should the normal site become unusable for any reason.
Site Assurance option 1 is delivered using the existing ISDN 30e basic diversion services. This enables all incoming calls to an End User’s site to be diverted to a pre-arranged single number. This could be either a different site, which is to be used as a standby using a telephone number that exists, or a third party provider standby site where telephone numbers exist.

Prompt Care – Level 2
Prompt Care is the standard care level associated with ISDN30 lines and is included in the normal monthly ISDN30 rental price. The working hours for the Level 2 (Prompt Care) service are 8.00am to 5.00pm Monday to Saturday excluding Public and Bank Holidays. Faults may be reported 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (including UK Public / Bank Holidays). Where a fault is reported outside of the working hours for this service, the fault will be treated as if it has been reported at the beginning of the next working day. If the fault is not cleared during this period Heart Telecom will advise the Nominated Contact of the progress being made to clear the fault.

Total Care Level 3
Total Care is a chargeable service and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days per week including Bank and Public Holidays. Heart Telecom will respond within 4 hours of receipt of a fault report. If the fault is not cleared during this period Heart Telecom will advise the Nominated Contact of the progress being made to clear the fault.
Temporary Service Restoration (Call Diversion) is available, in circumstances where a fault is reported and the end-user is suffering from a “total loss of service”, if it is evident at the fault entry stage, that Openreach will be unable to restore service within the commitment time.

Digital Calling Features for ISDN30e

Heart Telecom is able to provide any feature available from BT Openreach to our customers. The most common features are described below.

Feature

Description

Calling Line Identity Presentation (CLIP)

This service allows the called customer to receive the caller’s line identity (telephone number) before answering the call. The called party will only receive this information if the calling party has agreed to send their number (CLI).

Calling Line Identity Restriction (CLIR)

Customers can request that their
identities (telephone numbers) are not
released at any time. This service is
available free of charge when ordered
with the ISDN 30 line.

Connected Line Identity Presentation (COLP)

Allows you to confirm that the number
you have dialled is the number you are connected to and that you have not been forwarded to another location. Activation/deactivation of this facility is not available on a per call basis.

Connected Line Identity Restriction (COLR)

You can ask for your telephone numbers not to be released to callers. Please note that activation/deactivation of this facility
is not available on a per call basis.

Call Forwarding of Voice and Data Calls (Admin set up only) Unconditional On All Calls

All calls incoming to the diverting group of lines are immediately diverted to the directory number that was nominated to receive the diverted calls

Call Forwarding of Voice and Data Calls (Admin set up only) On Busy

Diversion/Forwarding on Busy is provided so that customers have the opportunity to ensure that any overflow traffic at one location can be answered elsewhere. ISDN 30 (DASS2) will divert calls when all channels are busy. ISDN 30e will forward calls when either all channels
are busy or when a specific DDI extension is signalled to be busy by the iSPBX.

Call Forwarding of Voice and Data Calls (Admin set up only) On No Reply

Provision of Diversion/Forwarding on
Ring Tone or No Reply means that calls will be diverted to a pre-arranged telephone number if the call isn’t answered within approximately 20 seconds.

Customer controlled call forwarding of Voice and Data Calls Unconditional On All Calls

This is the Call Forwarding option that
allows you to control the Call Forwarding service from your PBX / equipment. You can choose to forward all calls, on busy, or on no reply. The forwarded part of the call will be charged to whoever invokes the Call Forwarding facility. You are advised to check that your equipment supports the relevant Call Forwarding service offered. Call Forwarding on ISDN 30e allows both voice and data calls to be forwarded.

Customer controlled call forwarding of Voice and Data Calls - On Busy

This is the Call Forwarding option that
allows you to control the Call Forwarding service from your PBX / equipment. You can choose to forward all calls, on busy, or on no reply. The forwarded part of the call will be charged to whoever invokes the Call Forwarding facility. You are advised to check that your equipment supports the relevant Call Forwarding service offered. Call Forwarding on ISDN 30e allows both voice and data calls to be forwarded.

Customer controlled call forwarding of Voice and Data Calls – On No Reply

This is the Call Forwarding option that
allows you to control the Call Forwarding service from your PBX / equipment. You can choose to forward all calls, on busy, or on no reply. The forwarded part of the call will be charged to whoever invokes the Call Forwarding facility. You are advised to check that your equipment supports the relevant Call Forwarding service offered. Call Forwarding on ISDN 30e allows both voice and data calls to be forwarded.

Call Deflection (CD)

Allows you to respond to an incoming
voice or data call by deflecting the call to another number without answering it. The “forwarded to” number must be able to accept the calls, for voice calls any normal number that accepts incoming calls (such as a mobile phone or analogue exchange line) can take the call. The ability
to use this service is dependent upon your equipment. You can control the criteria that determines which calls are forwarded, for example on the basis of who the call is from, who it is made to, the call type etc.

20 Octet Sub Addressing

Sub Addressing (also known as
Network Address Extension)
For ISDN 30 this would apply to equipment that supplies ISDN 2e ports to the user. With ISDN 30e, up to 20 Octets can be sent to other ISDN 30e or ISDN 2e lines.
This allows the caller to select a
destination, device or end-point beyond that indicated by the called national number (for example a process in a host computer or a device connected to a LAN,
or individual devices connected to an ISDN 2 port). Assuming your equipment supports this facility, the caller may send his calling sub address but the called party
must have CLIP to receive this facility.

Caller Redirect

Caller Redirect is a service provided at the End User's local exchange that informs incoming callers of the called party's new telephone number. When an End User ceases service and takes up service elsewhere, or has a line renumbered, Caller Redirect will refer callers to the new number (the caller is not charged for the call).

DDI

Direct Dialling In combines the benefits of direct access to extension users without the need for individual exchange lines to be associated with each user or going via the operator.
The principle by which DDI works is that typically the last six digits of the dialled number are forwarded to the iSPBX over a group of ISDN lines and are used for call routing. This enables a range of public exchange numbers to be allocated to the iSPBX, and for each extension user to have the equivalent of his or her own exchange line. Frequent callers can then call directly to the person they wish to
contact.
A number from within the DDI range can be allocated as the main number for calls to the iSPBX operator. This would be the Company’s main published number for callers who do not know the relevant DDI number of the person or department they wish to contact.

Presentation Number

Presentation Number is a service that allows users to specify a telephone number for the Calling Line Identity (CLI) on outgoing calls, which may be different to the main telephone number.

Anonymous Call Reject

This can be used where the caller(s) are withholding their CLI. It will prevent most calls with CLI Withheld being made to the number selected. Users should be cautioned, however, that it is likely to stop other people they would be happy to speak to from phoning them (e.g. doctors, hospitals and numerous other large organisations). ACR will not reject International Calls.

 Power Supply
The 2Mbit/s NTE fitted when copper cable is used does not require a power supply as power is line fed from the BT exchange over the copper cable. The 2Mbit/s NTE fitted when fibre optic cable is used does require a power supply.

Standby Power
If required, standby batteries can be supplied at a charge, giving up to five hours backup supply. Alternatively, power can be supplied from CPE equipment if it has standby power. This will give protection in the case of a power failure so that calls can be made, but only if the iSPBX has standby power as well. If no standby power is fitted and the power is switched off to the NTE, service will automatically be restored when the power comes back on.
